Bill followed in his brother, Michael, footsteps to earn All-NCC and All America honors as a runningback in the mid 1970's. He was a four-time, 1973-74-75-76, letterwinner and set a UND rushing record. Deutsch also guided the Fighting Sioux to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the NCAA playoffs in 1975. In 1977 he graduated from UND.
