  Nyhus of Harvey, N.D., ranks as one of UND's all-time pitchers in baseball history. He lettered four years in baseball, 1969-72 and was named to the NCAA All District team in 1971. His senior year, 1972, he served as team captain and voted Most Valuable Player in the North Dakota state amateur baseball tournament. Nyhus established many season records at UND including: season innings worked 69-1/3; complete games worked 7; games won 6; strikeouts 77 and innings without relief 68-1/3. All of those records were made in 1971.
