Reuter was a 1963 Associated Press First Team All-America selection at defensive tackle. He was also an All-NCC selection and named the Fighting Sioux and league's Most Valuable Lineman. A three-year letterewinner, Reuter led UND into battle against national powerhouse Nebraska in 1961 and helped spark a 46-0 upset victory over Montana State. Besides playing football he also lettered in wrestling in 1961.
