  Jarrett, the son of the late Glenn (Red) Jarrett, was an outstanding all-around football back, lettering in 1957-59 under Coach Marv (Whitey) Helling. When he first came to UND freshman weren't eligible for varsity play, but he was still a star performer on the Sioux freshman team in 1956. He led the team in scoring, rushing, punt and kickoff returns his junior and senior year. The same years his standout play earned him All Conference first team honors. He was also a Little All America honorable mention and one of the honors of which he is proud was his selection to the Academic All America football team in 1959. That same year Jarrett served as team captain. He held the UND and conference record for the longest punt, 94 yards.
