Juelke was a standout football player for the Fighting Sioux during the late 1940's. He played both ways as a lineman on offense and a linebacker on defense. Juelke earned letter awards three times, 1947-49, and served as team captain his senior season in 1949 and also named UND Most Valuable Player that season. The Fargo Forum picked him as a member of the All North Central Conference team. Two other honors were given to him, one being named to the Little All America honorable mention team in 1949 and being an honorable mention All Sigma Chi football the same season.
