  Anderson, nicknamed "The Bull" by his teammates, came to UND from Eau Claire, Wis. He lettered in two sports, one as a fine basketball player at forward from 1952-55. Those teams were coached by Hall of Famer Louis Bogan, which compiled a 50-31 record, winning two North Central Conference championships and dominated the North Central Conference. His other athletic achievements came on the football field, where he was an outstanding end for another Hall of Famer, Frank Zazula. He lettered in football twice in 1953 when the Sioux when 6-1-1 on the year and had a 4-5-0 record in 1954.
