Nesbitt, a native of Clinton, Iowa, had a three-year career with the Sioux and proved that he was an outstanding player. He was a great outside shooter and playmaker, in which he lettered three times 1963-66. During his sophomore season as guard he led the Sioux in scoring. The Sioux went 26 and 5 his senior season, 1965-66. Together they won 50 of 60 games, won two North Central Conference Championships, two NCAA regional titles and placed third and fourth in that order in the 8-team NCAA College Division national basketball tournament. He was selected three times to the All North Central Conference team and once to the NCAA Regional team. Nesbitt ranks 14th the list of all -time UND scorers and if records had been kept during his career he would certainly rank in the top five of that group.
