Hall of Fame
Hextall was one of the first UND hockey players to turn pro. He was an outstanding competitor playing on the teams between 1963-66 as a center and left wing. The three teams he played on won 59, lost 26 and tied 5. They won the WCHA title in 1965, and also earned him All WCHA honors. His three-season statistics included scoring 36 goals and 65 assists for 101 points in only 63 games. He served as an assistant hockey captain and named the Most Valuable Player in a hockey tournament. Besides being a great hockey player he was an outstanding academic student, earning Dean's List honors several times with a 3.0 GPA. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1966 he played 14 years of pro hockey and 12 years in the National Hockey League. In 1974 and 1975 he played in the NHL All Star games.
