Wilson was a member of the hockey team from 1969-72. In one of his first seasons he was charged with the most penalty minuets in the 1971 season with 113, which ranked him seventh. In 1972 he was selected to the All-WCHA second team. Throughout his time as a Fighting Sioux hockey standout he earned a total of 53 career points. After his college career he played in the National Hockey League from 1973-77 with three different teams in Montreal, St. Louis and Detroit.
