Landy, from Richmond, British Columbia, excelled in football at UND from 1970 through 1972. He played defensive tackle very well, and so well that he was named to the All North Central Conference team in 1971 and 1972. Also in 1972 he was named the Conference Defensive Most Valuable Player, and earned Little All America Honorable Mention. Following his UND career, Landy signed and played pro football for the Saskatchewan Roughriders five years in the Canadian Football League. After playing with the Roughriders he was traded to the British Columbia Lions for three years, serving as team captain for two and being named to the CFL West Conference All Star team. In both 1977 and 1978 he was named B.C. Lions Defensive Lineman of the Year and several other football-related awards. Then in 1980 he retired from football.
