Hall of Fame
Gustafson was a two-time All-North Central Conference selection as the quarterback for UND's football team. He put together some very impressive statistics for the Sioux. As a sophomore he completed 75 of 155 passes for 860 yards, 8 touchdowns and was intercepted only 7 times. As a junior he made 128 of 230 pass attempts for 1,817 yards, 17 touchdowns and as a senior he completed 124 of 262 passes for 1,977 yards and 17 touchdowns. That gives him career totals of 325 completions of 647 attempts for 4, 654 yards and 42 touchdowns. He earned three letters, 1971-73, and set several UND game, season and career records. Many of these stood until the mid 1980's. Gustafson was the All- NCC quarterback in both 1972 and 1973. During his three seasons, he quarterbacked the Fighting Sioux to a record of 22-8-1 and two NCC championships, 1971 and 1972. He played under Hall of Fame Coach Jerry Olson.
