  Olson, a Grand Forks native, made his mark as a standout UND fullback just before and after World War II. He lettered in 1940-42 and then entered the army. Olson returned in 1946 to serve as co-captain under the late head coach Glenn (Red) Jarrett. In 1942 he was named to the All North Central Conference team.
