A native of Carrington, N.D., Sheri Kleinsasser Stockmoe came to the University of North Dakota in 1991.
One of the best women's basketball players ever to play at UND, Kleinsasser Stockmoe was a four-time All-North Central Conference selection, two-time All-American (1994 and 1995), the 1992 Freshman of the Year, 1995 NCC Most Valuable Player and the 1995 Rawlings/WBCA Division II Player of the Year. She was captain of the Sioux as a senior in 1994-95.
During her four years at UND, the Sioux posted an overall record of 96-19 (.835) and a conference record of 62-10 (.861). The Sioux won the conference titles in Kleinsasser Stockmoe's sophomore and junior seasons, including a perfect 18-0 NCC record in 1993-94, the first time in school history that UND was undefeated in conference play in a single season.
UND advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament all four years she played and made it to the national quarterfinals her freshman season.
At the time she finished her career, Kleinsasser Stockmoe was UND's all-time leading scorer with 1,941 points, and she still ranks second all-time on the Sioux scoring list.
She also ranks eighth on UND's career list in rebound (720), second in field goals made (770), third in field goals attempted (1,343), third in field goal percentage (.573), third in blocked shots (175), second in free throws made (401), second in free throws attempted (539) and ninth in free throw percentage (.744).
She also ranks in the top 10 in many of UND's single-season lists, and she still holds the school single-game record for best field goal percentage in a single game (1.000 on 10-of-10 shooting in a 92-71 win over South Dakota on March 4, 1995).
A 6-2 center, Kleinsasser Stockmoe averaged 17 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in her career. She scored 30 or more points in a game five times.
Kleinsasser Stockmoe graduated from UND in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training. She earned a master's degree in kinesiology from UND in 1999.
Kleinsasser Stockmoe says that "the quality of education I received at UND, and the people I have met provided me an advantage in the work force."
Kleinsasser Stockmoe is currently an account executive with Frappier Acceleration Sports Training. She resides in Fargo, N.D., with her husband Stuart and child Seely.
