  Loepp was a standout football center and linebacker in 1942 and again in 1946-47. He was an All NCC selection in 1942 and again in 1947 and team captain in 1947. Those who saw him play remember him as an aggressive and able center. Loepp was an outstanding performer, starting every UND game played in 1942. In addition to earning All Conference football honors, he was also a member of Blue Key, Who's Who and Sigma Delta Chi, professional journalism fraternity and graduated in 1948 with a journalism degree.
