A native of Renville, Minn., Jacobs is a 1967 graduate of UND with a Bachelor of Philosophy from the College of Sciences, Literature and Arts. He was a three-time (1962-63-64) letterwinner for the Sioux football team and also played for the Sioux basketball team in 1962 as forward and center. An offensive tackle for the Sioux grid squad, Jacobs earned honorable mention all-conference and UND Most Valuable Lineman accolades and in 1964 was tabbed a Little All-American. Jacobs says that 1964 campaign holds many memories for him, notably UND's hard-fought 9-7 win over Montana State and the 20-13 Homecoming Game victory over arch-rival North Dakota State--UND's 12th straight win over the Bison.
