Kope as he is widely known to the athletic fraternity, is now UND Professor Emeritus of Accounting. He has been at UND since 1937 and served as UND faculty athletic representative 1938-49 and 1971-73. He has been either head UND basketball scorer or time from 1937 to present and has missed only four home games in that span. All three of his sons were UND athletes and are graduates. His eldest son, Dr. Richard G., is now Commissioner of the North Central Conference, headquartered in Minneapolis.
