A native of Menasha, Wisconsin, Fahrbach starred for the Sioux basketball team from 1975-79, earning four letters. A three-time All North Central Conference team member from 1977-79, he helped lead the Sioux to the NCC Championship in 1977. He ranked No. 5 on the school's all-time field goal list with 617, No. 6 on the Sioux's all-time rebound list with 733 and No. 7 on the all-time scoring list with 1, 442 points. Fahrbach averaged 18.1 points and 8.0 rebounds in his senior season. He finished his career with a field goal percentage of 50.8 and a 74.0 free throw percentage. After college he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA in 1979, then left the United States to play over in Norway. He played for Ammerud Idrettsforeningen in Oslo, Norway and helped lead the team to four National Championships, earning three MVP honors during his career from 1980-89. From there he coached the Norwegian national basketball team and played in 42 national team games for Norway.
