Nathan Putchat

Putchat was the man who started wrestling at UND in the middle 1930's, severing as student coach and also wrestling as a heavyweight. He came to UND from Trenton, N.J., to play football as a tackle and linebacker under Hall of Fame Coach Jack West. Putchat lettered in 1935-36-37 and also earned all Conference Honors. While he wrestled for UND he held several AAU titles, and was credited by his contemporaries for doing an outstanding job of coaching the wrestling team.
