GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota soccer team stayed unbeaten to open the 2025 campaign, striking three times in the first half on its way to a 4-0 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday afternoon at Bronson Field.
The Fighting Hawks (3-0-0) wasted little time grabbing control, with
Charlie Basinet continuing her red-hot start to the season by netting her third goal of the year in the 16th minute to put UND in front. Just over 18 minutes later,
Jessica Machovec doubled the advantage with an unassisted tally in the 34th minute before setting up Basinet's second strike only three minutes later to make it 3-0 heading into the break.
Basinet completed her first career hat trick in the 70th minute, finishing a feed from both
Brynn Belcher and
Alisha Maake to cap the scoring at 4-0.
Goalkeeper
Grace Miller and the UND back line were up to the task defensively, with the sophomore stopping all five shots on goal faced recording her second shutout of the year. Eastern Washington (1-2-0) fired 19 total attempts, but Miller and the Hawks' defense kept the Eagles off the scoreboard, including a missed penalty kick in the 76th minute.
North Dakota will look to continue its perfect start on Sunday, Aug. 24, hosting Jamestown at 3 p.m. at Bronson Field.
