BOSTON, Mass. – Select members of the North Dakota distance squad visited Boston for a pair of meets on Saturday and posted five improvements to the UND top-10 lists, highlighted by
Jadyn Keeler breaking a school record.
Keeler shattered the 5,000-meter school record at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener with a personal-best time of 15:57.19. She broke the record of
Yonca Kutluk, who set it at 16:07.70 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational last season. Keeler's PR was an improvement of more than 50 seconds to her previous best.
Also in the 5,000 meters,
Naja Weiler added her name to the UND top-10 list with a time of 16:37.34, which was good for the No. 3 time in program history.
Earlier at the meet,
Jiri Ceska clocked the No. 2 time in school history in the mile with a time of 4:07.05.
In the 3,000 meters,
Matej Hrebacka and
Ian Busche climbed the UND top-10 list. Hrebacka ran a time of 8:14.30, which now sits as the No. 2 time in program history. Busche finished with a PR of 8:20.72 and moved up to No. 6 on the UND top-10 list.
Jonas Weschle was the lone Fighting Hawk to compete at the Early Bird at the TRACK at new balance. He took part in the 5,000 meters and finished with a time of 14:59.63, less than two seconds shy of adding his name to the UND top-10 list.
The Fighting Hawks will visit Fargo this Friday and Saturday for the Dakota Alumni Classic.
POST-MEET NOTES
* North Dakota competed in three meets during the opening weekend of NCAA track & field competition, the most meets UND has taken part in during the first week of competition in its Division I history.
* With posting five improvements to the UND top-10 lists on Saturday, the Fighting Hawks finished the weekend with seven additions to the UND top-10 lists.
