Series History vs South Dakota
North Dakota leads 50-36 all-time in the series history that dates back to 1977. The Fighting Hawks snapped a 14-game Coyote win streak last year with a 83-66 victory at the Betty on Feb. 4.
NoDak had five players reach double-digit point totals in the win over USD.
Kacie Borowicz tallied 12 points, eight rebound and six assists, while
Kiyah Hurst added 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 13 minutes off the bench. UND started and finished the game strong by outscoring South Dakota 25-16 in the first quarter and 24-12 in the final frame to earn the 17-point win.
Last Time Out: vs St. Thomas
The Fighting Hawks struggled on the offensive end in the first half in a 76-66 loss to St. Thomas Saturday at the Betty. The Tommies closed out the opening 20 minutes on an 18-0 run. While the UND offense found its rhythm in the second half, scoring 47 points, the 15-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
Kacie Borowicz paced the Hawks with 24 points to go with five boards.
Kiyah Hurst pitched in 19 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-14 shooting.
Hurst Don't It
Since returning to conference play following the Summit League - Big Sky Challenge in early January,
Kiyah Hurst has scored in double-figures in all five games and is averaging 17.6 points per game.
Hurst has recorded two double-doubles in the five-game stretch. She notched a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double in a Hawks 100-75 win over Omaha on Jan. 11 and a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards in a win over Denver on Jan. 20. She has been efficient during this stretch of play with a field goal percentage of .538 and is 10-of-22 from beyond the arc.
Messed Around and Got a Triple-Double
Kacie Borowicz added her name in the UND record book alongside two North Dakota greats,
Katie Richards and
Jenny Crouse, as the third player in program history to record a triple-double in the Hawks 100-75 win over Omaha. Borowicz scored 20 points, dished out 10 assists and pulled down 11 rebounds. Borowicz is one of 17 players in the NCAA to secure a triple-double this season, and the only player from player from the Summit League.
Richards posted a 13 point, 11 assist and 10 rebound triple-double against Morningside on Jan. 15, 2000, while Crouse had 19 points, 14 blocks and 12 rebounds against St. Cloud State on Feb. 8, 1997.
