NOTES: Fighting Hawks head west to face Idaho State

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota travels to Pocatello, Idaho for its first game in the Summit League - Big Sky Challenge Wednesday against Idaho State at 8:00 p.m. CT.

Series History vs Idaho State
NoDak holds an 8-5 record over Idaho State and is 3-3 when the game is played in Pocatello. The two teams last met in 2018 with the Bengals sweeping the season series when North Dakota was a member of the Big Sky Conference.
 
UND last won in Pocatello in the 2016-17 season, 65-62 in overtime. It will be the first time the two teams have played since UND joined the Summit League.
 
Last Time Out: vs South Dakota State
North Dakota fell in their second Summit League contest of the year Sunday, 74-53, to South Dakota State at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Hawks struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half, trailing 41-19 after the first 20 minutes.
 
Kacie Borowicz had a team-high 17 points and grabbed two rebounds. Kiera Pemberton added eight points with three boards off the bench, and Miranda VanderWal secured 10 rebounds and blocked four shots.
 
Borowicz Sets Division I Scoring Record
With her 32 points against St. Thomas, Kacie Borowicz set the North Dakota Division I scoring record passing Lexi Klabo's total of 1,633 points. Borowicz moved into seventh on the UND all-time scoring list. Borowicz has reached the 20-point mark in six games this season and has been the Hawks leading scorer seven times.
 
The fifth-year guard from Roseau, Minn. scored 674 points last season, the most by a Fighting Hawks since Marisa Leighton's 682 points in 2003-04.
 
Borowicz in the Rankings
Kacie Borowicz is the Summit League leader and ranks 16th nationally in points per game at 21.0. Borowicz is second in The Summit and seventh in the NCAA in free throw percentage at .925 percent.
 
She ranks fifth in the conference in field goal percentage at .408, third in made free throws with 49 and third in steals per game with 2.0.
 
Blocked By VanderWal & Ibrahim
Miranda VanderWal ended the 2023 calendar year with a block party, recording eight blocks in the final three games of 2023. VanderWal rejected three shots against Drake on Dec. 21 to go with eight points and blocked a career-high four shots against South Dakota State on Dec. 31. VanderWal also grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds against the Jackrabbits.
 
VanderWal ranks fourth in the Summit League averaging 1.08 blocks per game. She has four games this season with multiple rejections.
 
Fatima Ibrahim has made her presence felt in the paint against Minot State and Eastern Illinois by totaling six blocked shots. Ibrahim rejected two shots against the Beavers to go with six points and five rebounds.
 
VanderWal and Ibrahim's four blocks against Eastern Illinois is the most by a Fighting Hawk since the 2021-22 season when Melissa Leet swatted nine Oral Roberts shot attempts in a 53-34 victory. The freshman center also grabbed three boards against the Panthers.
