Series History vs Southern Miss
This will be the first time the Fighting Hawks will play Southern Miss.
Last Time Out: vs Montana State
North Dakota hosted Montana State at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center Sunday and fell 60-53 to the Bobcats. UND trailed 32-18 at the halftime break but found their stride on both sides of the ball in the third quarter. NoDak opened the third frame with a 19-4 run to take their first lead of the game at the two-minute mark following a pair of free throws from Kiera Pemberton. UND outscored the Bobcats 21-8 on 7-of-15 shooting while holding Montana State to 2-of-16 from the field. The Hawks comeback effort would fall short as they scored just five points over the final five minutes of the game.
Kacie Borowicz poured in her fourth 20-point game of the season with 22 to go with four boards, three steals and three assists. Kiyah Hurst grabbed a team high 10 rebounds in her first action of the season and scored seven points.
Borowicz in the Rankings
Kacie Borowicz ranks first in the summit league in a number of categories through the first four games of the season. Borowicz leads the conference in points per game (23.2), points (93), free throws made (25), free throw attempts (29) and field goals made (32).
Borowicz's 23.2 points per game ranks 11th across the NCAA and her 25 made free throws are 13th most.
Borowicz is one of four players in the NCAA to average over 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game.
Pemberton Posts First Career Double-Double
In her first game at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, freshman Kiera Pemberton posted her first career double-double in the green and white. Pemberton poured in 18 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting and was active on the boards with 11 total rebounds.
She helped the NoDak offense push the pace, securing eight defensive rebounds with three of those boards resulting in seven fast break points for the freshman. Pemberton corralled three offensive rebounds and went 4-for-7 from the free throw line.
Pemberton is no stranger to stuffing the stats sheet, as she averaged 34 points and 14 rebounds per game in her final season at Walnut Groce Secondary. She dominated the British Columbia Provincial Championships with a staggering 41.5 points and 14 rebounds per game over four games.
