NOTES: UND Women fly to Kansas City

The University of North Dakota women's basketball team heads out on the road to Kansas City on Thursday, January 19 at 7 p.m. 

Watch the Hawks
All UND women's basketball games, home and away, can be heard on stations across the Home of Economy Fighting Hawks Radio Network, as well as through the iHeart Radio app, with longtime broadcaster Jack Michaels calling the action. Thursday's game can be heard on 1440 AM.

Series History vs. The Roos
The Fighting Hawks and the Kansas City Roos are meeting for only the fourth time in program history.  UND trails the series 1-2. 

Last Time Out: vs Denver 
The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks remains a perfect 9-0 at home, following an intense rivalry with Denver at the Betty Engelstad arena this afternoon. After the last road trip UND returned to form shooting 42.6 percent from the field and an outstanding 81.3 percent from the line in the 68-57 win.

The defensive game for UND remained the focus for Coach Mallory Bernhard, forcing 16 DU turnovers. The ladies also held a high scoring Denver team to six points in the third quarter.

Kacie Borowicz led the Fighting Hawks (11-6, 4-3 SL) with 23 points. She also drew five fouls, had one assist and two steals.

Claire Orth had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists on the afternoon.

Juliet Gordon paced the team with eight rebounds and led the team in minutes played with 33. She also went 2-for-2 at the free throw line.

North Dakota started the game trailing for the first half of the opening quarter, but Maggie Manson drained a long three following a turnover with 2:37 left to make it 15-15. Daninger ended the period going 2-for-2 at the charity line to end the quarter 17-17.

As the clock turned into the second quarter UND went on an 8-3 run, to take the lead 25-20. DU regained the lead for a short moment before Nakiyah Hurst nailed one from distance to put the Hawks back up, 28-27. UND and Denver would continue to match each other shot for shot tying the game up two more times in the second quarter. UND would take a four-point lead into the half.

The Fighting Hawks continued to lead the rest of the game, holding Denver to 21 points in the final two quarters, while adding 28 points to the sheet. UND held on for the final 20 minutes of the game to win 68-57.

Home Sweet Home
UND has been dominant at home this season, improving to 9-0 inside the Betty to begin the season following the win over Omaha. 

The last time NoDak started 8-0 at home was 2013-14, when the green and white won its first seven contests at home before closing out a 15-1 season on its home floor. 

UND has not allowed a home opponent to score more than 66 points through seven contests and has won seven of the seven games by double figures.
