Series History vs. the Bobcats
Friday marks the 20th all-time meeting between North Dakota and Montana State, with the Bobcats holding a 12-7 advantage in the all-time series. The teams have played twice over the last two years, splitting the contests with the home side each grabbing a win.Â
North Dakota is looking to grab its first win in Bozeman against the Cats, dropping the previous eight tilts between the two. The last time NoDak took down MSU away from Grand Forks was Dec. 18, 1976 in the first meeting between the programs, where the Fighting Sioux picked up an 80-47 victory in Fargo.Â
Last Time Out: vs. Wyoming
North Dakota improved to 2-0 with a 67-55 victory over Wyoming last Friday afternoon from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.Â
Kacie Borowicz paced UND with 20 points, going 4-for-4 at the charity stripe late in the game. She also dished out a team-high six assists.
Nakiyah Hurst was next in scoring for the Fighting Hawks, knocking down four shots for nine points. Seven of her points came in the third quarter alone. Joli Daninger just missed a double-double, pulling in a career-high 13 rebounds while pouring in eight points.
Home Sweet Home
UND opened with two straight at home for only the third time in the Division I era and did not disappoint, rattling off victories over Detroit Mercy and Wyoming to start the season at 2-0.Â
The Hawks, which have been known for being tough on their own floor, are looking to get back to that moniker after going 16-18 at home over the last three seasons.Â
Not So Slow Start
North Dakota did something that it had not done in a long time on Friday, jump out to a 2-0 record to begin the season. In fact, the wins over Detroit Mercy and Wyoming gave UND its first 2-0 start to the year since 2007, the final year of Division II play for the program.Â
Prior to last Monday, NoDak last won a season opener on Nov. 14, 2008 against Eastern Michigan, which was the program's first game as a DI school, which snapped a 13-year losing streak.Â
