LAST TIME OUT
The University of North Dakota fell in Milwaukee against Marquette, 65-89. The Golden Eagles were the first on the board, yet the Fighting Hawks were able to respond quickly. Although UND would keep up with Marquette initially, they would not be able to convert on offense thus leading them to suffer the loss. Kacie Borowicz ended the game as the offensive leader for the Fighting Hawks. She finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Maggie Manson, Olivia Lane, and Claire Orth ended the night in double digits for UND. Manson and O. Lane had 11 points each while Orth followed with 10 points. O. Lane led on the boards with six rebounds. North Dakota finished shooting 35.9 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three and 82.4 percent from the free throw line. Comparatively, Marquette shot 58.0 percent from the floor, 40.0 percent from the three and 50.0 percent from the line. Although the Golden Eagles held the lead during the contest, the Hawks ended the match with a lead in points off turnovers (12-11). UND and Marquette tied on second chance points (13-13). Marquette maintained the lead in fast break points (21-8), points in the paint (42-22), and points off the bench (26-14).
ALL-TIME WITH MAYVILLE STATE
The University of North Dakota leads the Mayville State Comets in the series 34-0. The last time these two teams faced each other was during the 2020-21 season at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks beat the Comets, 83-52.
THE FIGHTING FOUR
Kacie Borowicz, Claire Orth, Maggie Manson and Olivia Lane have been leading the Fighting Hawks in the last stretch of the season. On Saturday, Dec. 11 against Marquette they each recorded a double-digit evening. Borowicz ended the game as the offensive leader for the Fighting Hawks. She finished with 13 points. She was followed closely by Manson and O. Lane. They each had 11 points. Orth followed them with ten points. In the Minnesota Morris game prior, Borowicz (16) and O. Lane (22) each scored double digits. This double-digit scoring was followed by double digit scoring against Siena from Borowicz (18), Orth (17), and Manson (16). In the last three games, these four starters have combined for a total of 155 points.

SCOUTING MAYVILLE STATE
Mayville State enters the contest with an 8-2 overall record. They currently sit at 1-0 for conference play as they round out their non-conference schedule. The Comets opened their season on the road at the University of Jamestown for an exhibition match, which was not recorded in their overall record. They suffered a 74-76 loss to begin the season. After this loss, they competed in the Cardinal Stritch Classic in Milwaukee, Wis. They beat Indiana University Northwest (64-59) in the first round to move on and beat Cardinal Stritch University (61-40) in the second round. The winning streak would continue as they returned to Mayville for a rematch against the University of Jamestown. They managed to take the win, 66-63, for a split against them. Next, they hosted Trinity Bible College at home and gained another win (84-33) before falling to Bemidji State on the road (79-51). They hosted the Dakota Clash in which they beat Presentation College (75-47) and lost to Dakota State University (76-82). Next, they had a home and home with Minnesota Morris. They won both 74-34 and 68-57. They faced Presentation College once more and ended the game with a win 63-57.
NEXT UP
Following Wednesday evening's game, the Fighting Hawks will return on the road to travel to Detroit where they will play Detroit Mercy before returning to the Betty for their final home game of the season. The tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m.
