LAST ACTION
North Dakota hit I-29 Southbound to Brookings, S.D. to take on the Summit League-leading South Dakota State Jackrabbits. While the Fighting Hawks battled for 40 minutes, the Jacks ability to get to the free throw line and make three-pointers proved the difference as they defeated UND, 81-58.

Saturday's game will be Oral Roberts first-ever meeting between the two teams in Grand Forks. In the series debut in Tulsa was North Dakota's 2019 opener and a physical one at that. The two teams combined for 56 free throws, led by UND's 34-for-38 performance.

KLABO AMONGST NATIONS BEST FORWARDS
On Wednesday, senior Lexi Klabo was named one of the top-10 finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award, given annually to one of the nation's top forwards. The only mid-major player on the list, Klabo stacks up well with the competition, ranking third in both points (20.6) and rebounds (8.3) per game. She's also only one of two players with at least 18 points and eight rebounds per game.

Listed alphabetically by school, here is the Top-10 list as selected by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association with points and rebounds per game averages included.

AND LEXI WAS PLAYER OF THE WEEK TO BOOT
On top of the national recognition, Lexi Klabo was named the Summit League's Player of the Week on Monday after averaging a double-double for the weekend. A 26 point, 12 rebound effort in a 70-58 win against rival North Dakota State paced her 20.5 points and 10 rebounds per game averages last week. Klabo also led UND in both categories at South Dakota State, accounting for 15 points and eight boards.

ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES A LADY
With her honor on Monday, Lexi Klabo became the only player in the Summit League to earn Player of the Week three times in a season. The Fargo, N.D., native became the first repeat Summit League Player of the Week with her honor on Dec. 31. She scored 21 and grabbed eight rebounds in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne in the team's first-ever Summit League tilt Dec. 29. She first earned the honor on Dec. 3.

APPROACHING THE TOP-10 PLATEAU
Her scoring exploits this season have been well documented, but as a result, Lexi Klabo is knocking on the door of the career top-10 in scoring at North Dakota, entering Saturday's game just three points shy of tying the 1,531 mark held by Kelli Britz (1993-97). Klabo will be the first player to crack UND's career top-10 since former All-American Kierah Kimbrough (2005-09) broke through the barrier en route to a 2,000-point career.

EFFECTIVE ON THE GLASS
In 15 of the last 16 games, North Dakota has outrebounded its foes on the glass. The Fighting Hawks have only been outrebounded by an opponent five times this season and were last bested on Dec. 9 at Iowa State. North Dakota State equaled UND's rebounding total (37); however, the Hawks defeated the Bison, 70-58.

POUNDING THE PAINT
In the last four games, North Dakota has scored 134 points in the paint, an average of 34 points per game. Paced by a 38 point afternoon at Western Illinois, UND has scored at least 30 points in the key in each contest, including 34 last time out at South Dakota State. Julia Fleecs and Lexi Klabo have been a large part of the Fighting Hawks success in the paint recently as Fleecs has averaged 16.3 points per game while Klabo has registered 18.5 points per game.

WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE
The key for North Dakota in its last four games has been controlling the ball and limiting the turnovers. UND is 2-2 when committing fewer turnovers than its foes in its previous four games and are currently -7 in the turnover battle. The Hawks committed a season-low six turnovers versus NDSU on their way to their fifth Summit League victory of the season. North Dakota is 6-2 when committing fewer turnovers than its opponents.

UP NEXT
UND will host a Senior Day doubleheader with the men's team when it hosts Denver on Feb. 23. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. Central.
