The University of North Dakota will open its 46th season of play on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when it takes on reigning WNIT Champion Arizona. The Fighting Hawks will follow up at Grand Canyon on Friday, Nov. 8.
QUICK JUMPERS
*The University of North Dakota held Concordia to 19 points in its lone exhibition. The Cobbers went scoreless in the fourth quarter and didn't score a field goal in the second quarter.
*Freshmen duo
Kacie Borowicz and
Lilly Keplin combined for 34 points off the bench with Borowicz leading all scorers with 19 points.
*Freshmen also led UND in assists as Borowicz posted seven and
Megan Zander recorded nine rebounds.
*The Fighting Hawks had 15 treys and 29 assists in the exhibition against Concordia.
*North Dakota was picked to finish sixth in The Summit League's Preseason Coaches Poll.
*UND finished sixth last season with a 12-19 record and a 6-10 Summit League record.
*North Dakota women's basketball earned the school's first postseason win as a member of The Summit League when it defeated Denver in the First Round, 80-67
*The Fighting Hawks return 34-percent of their scoring and 35-percent of their rebounding from a season ago.

Julia Fleecs is North Dakota's top-returner in both points (8.9) and rebounds (3.4).
*Eight of UND's 15 student-athletes on the roster are freshmen, including seven newcomers.
THE WILDCATS AND UND - HISTORY LESSON
North Dakota owns a 1-0 lead in the series against Arizona, winning the lone meeting, 61-59, on Dec. 18, 1987. Then in his first season at the helm of the Fighting Sioux,
Gene Roebuck's 10th win of his career was against the Wildcats. The matchup at Arizona was the first game of a trip that also included a meeting with Eastern New Mexico. The University of North Dakota opened the season 15-0 before finishing with a 22-6 record and earning an NCAA Tournament berth.
THE LOPES AND THE HAWKS
UND also owns a 1-0 record against Grand Canyon, defeating the Antelopes, 57-51, in the 2016 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) under then-fourth year Head Coach
Travis Brewster. The victory was the first postseason tournament win in the Fighting Hawks Division I history. Former Fighting Hawk Makailah Dyer became the 34th player in UND history to score 1,000 career points.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Arizona finished 2018-19 with a 24-13 record, winning their final six games of the season win the WNIT, defeating Northwestern in the championship game in Tuscon, 56-42. The Wildcats return six players that averaged 20-minutes or more, including All-American Aari McDonald, who averaged 24.1 points per game to finish third in the country in scoring. Arizona is led by fourth-year Head Coach Adia Barnes, a 2,000-point scorer, and All-American for the Wildcats.
SCOUTING THE LOPES
Grand Canyon posted a 7-20 last season and features a young roster like the Fighting Hawks as it welcomes six newcomers in 2019-20. Spaniard Laura Piera is the team's top returning scorer from last season, averaging 8.5 points and 3.5 assists per game in her freshman campaign. Piera also led the team in steals with 45. Former three-time All-American at Stanford Nicole Powell leads the Antelopes and will begin her third season at the helm in 2019-20.
