NOTES: Home Sweet Home

ON TAP
North Dakota finally hosts a home game, after seven straight road contests, when it welcomes in Milwaukee for an 11:30 a.m. matinee Friday at the Betty. UND last played at home on Oct. 30 in the final of two exhibitions.

LAST ACTION
Lexi Klabo scored 21 and added seven rebounds and four blocks but host Northern Iowa held on for a 64-60 win Tuesday in Cedar Falls, Iowa. North Dakota trimmed a 10-point second-half deficit down to a single bucket in the final minute, however, UNI-- who came in as the 14th-best free throw shooting team in the NCAA-- hit their freebies down the stretch to ice

THE SERIES WITH MILWAUKEE
Northern Iowa leads the all-time series between the schools, 4-3. The home team has won every meeting in the Division I era, including UND's 80-72 victory last season at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

All-time vs. Milwaukee
UND leads, 2-0
Home: 1-0, Away: 1-0
12/4/13    W    78-66 (A)
11/18/14    W    83-76 (H)

DOUBLE DOZEN DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Klabo had her streak of  four consecutive double-doubles snapped Tuesday at Northern Iowa. She goes into the week with  24 for her career and this season nearly averages a double-double for the season (22.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg).

MATINEE MADNESS
Friday's 11:30 a.m. tip will be part of an Elementary Education Day, a opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students from local elementary schools to make the trek to the Betty as a class.

GRAY JERSEYS TO HONOR RECENT LETTERWINNERS' FAMILIES
UND will wear new gray jerseys with a pink accent during Friday's game and at select times this season to honor recent letterwinners and their families'  battles with cancer. Ashley Stevens (Langen), Katie Bishop (Houdek) and Cassie Thompson all have recent cancer-battle stories in their respective families. Stevens, the second all-time leading scorer in UND history, grew up locally coming out of Kennedy, Minn. Her mom, Char, is in the hospital fighting cancer currently. Bishop, a Grafton, N.D., native is a 2014 graduate of UND and her husband, Matt, has faced an on-going battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He's already beaten the disease twice but still faces lengthy hospital visits following a car accident this fall. Thompson's mother, Jill, has also recently been fighting the battle with cancer.

DIRTY 30s
Lexi Klabo's back-to-back 30-point games at Rhode Island and UMass were historic. Some notes after those performances:
*The last UND player to score 30 points on back-to-back nights was Ashley Langen, who scored 31 against Augustana on Feb. 11, 2005 then poured in 36 a night later against Minnesota Duluth (at Ralph Engelstad Arena).
*The last UND player to score 30+ more than once in a season was Kierah Kimbrough, who did it in 2008-09 (32 vs. Houston Baptist, 30 vs. Seattle).
*Dating back to last season, Klabo has scored in double figures in 16 consecutive games (9 double-doubles in that span).
*She's scored 30 points or more in three of her last 10 games and has 20-point performances in 11 of her last 15 games.

J.J. HAS CAREER NIGHT AT UNI
Jaclyn Jarnot poured in a career high eight points Tuesday at Northern Iowa, nailing a pair of late triples and hitting two free throws to help UND stage a late comeback.

HALF-DOZEN THREES
North Dakota broke out of a bit of a shooting funk from the perimeter to hit 6-of-14 from deep Tuesday at Northern Iowa. It marked the most threes hit this season for UND and at the best percentage.

CHERYL MILLER WATCH LIST
Lexi Klabo was one of just 20 national players named to the 2019 Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, announced in October. Klabo is among the power conferences' best at the forward position and is one of only three nominees from a mid-major school. Now in its second season, the award is given to the top small forward in all of NCAA Division I basketball.

NON-CONFERENCE NONSENSE
North Dakota will play 11 of its 13 non-conference games away from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. It starts with seven consecutive road games before the home opener on Dec. 7 vs. Milwaukee. UND then goes on the road to Iowa State before its final home non-conference tilt (Dec. 12 vs. Mayville State). The Fighting Hawks will finish the pre-league slate with three games at the Stetson tournament, Dec. 19-21.

POWER PLAY
North Dakota will see three schools from power conferences this season with No. 18 Syracuse (ACC) to open the campaign (Nov. 6), followed by a Nov. 21 tilt at Penn State (B1G TEN) and a Dec. 9 matchup at Iowa State (Big 12).
