FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota's throwers kicked off the Bison Open on Thursday by competing in the hammer throw.
Kenna Curry was the story of the meet, improving her No. 2 throw in school history while also breaking the facility record.
Curry won the women's section with a personal-best toss of 222-3 (67.74m). That throw not only improved her No. 6 throw in the NCAA and her No. 2 mark on the UND top-10 list, but set a new Terrence Dahl & Donna Beres Track Complex facility record. The previous facility record was 213-8 (65.14m), set by Amy Phillips, an unattached athlete at North Dakota State, at the 2023 NDSU Tune-Up.
Three other Fighting Hawks joined Curry in the hammer throw and also placed.
Eve Goldstein finished fifth with a PR toss of 173-11 (53.01m).
Julia Matthews placed sixth and had a personal best of 172-10 (52.68m).
Kaylynn Red Tomahawk took eighth with a mark of 163-7 (49.88m).
In the men's section,
Carter Byron came in third with a throw of 168-3 (51.50m).
Boaz Raderschadt also placed and was eighth with a toss of 150-0 (45.72m).
