AZUSA, Calif./LONG BEACH, Calif. – North Dakota concluded competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the throwers opened the Beach Invitational on Friday. The Fighting Hawks broke three school records and posted eight improvements to the UND top-10 list at the meets.
In the opening moments of Saturday, the Bryan Clay Invitational ended with fireworks in the final section of the men's 1,500 meters.
Louis-Lys Fanucchi was the second-to-last Hawk to take the track and bettered his own school record with a personal-best time of 3:45.61. That time beat his previous record time of 3:47.15, which he set at the Stanford Invitational two weeks ago. At the end of the meet, Fanucchi's time ranked No. 2 on the UND top-10 list and placed seventh in the section.
Approximately 20 minutes after Fanucchi improved his 1,500-meter school record (3:45.61),
Matej Hrebacka broke it and now owns the program record with a PR time of 3:45.34. Hrebacka's time finished fifth in the section.
Earlier on Friday night,
Jadyn Keeler set a new 1,500-meter program record in her invitational section with a personal-best time of 4:20.03. She broke the record of Erica Eades, who set it at 4:21.74 at the 2021 Summit League Outdoor Championships.
Towards the beginning of the meet,
Jory Vasek bettered his own school record in the 400 meters and finished fourth with a PR of 47.33. His previous record time was 47.70, which he set at the NDSU Spring Classic last week.
Vasek was also part of the 4x100-meter relay team with
Michael Mallory,
Maxwell Roller and
Maverick Kneefe, which posted the No. 3 time in school history in 41.48.
Anya Williams finished fourth in her section of the high jump with a personal-best height of 5-4 1/4 (1.63m).
In the morning section of the 1,500 meters,
Brooklyn Brouse took fifth with a time of 4:42.16.
Marta Marksa placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 60.04.
Trenton Hanseder finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 172-10 (52.69m).
Henrik Lindstrot placed seventh in his section of the 1,500 meters and moved up to No. 4 on the UND top-10 list with a time of 3:48.30.
Carson Kunz tied for eighth in the men's high jump and recorded the No. 8 clearance in school history with a PR of 6-5 (1.96m).
Kenna Curry was victorious in the invitational section of the hammer throw at the Beach Invitational with a toss of 218-5 (66.58m).
In the men's invitational hammer throw,
Ethan Thomas improved his No. 10 throw on the UND top-10 list with a mark of 175-8 (53.54m).
