A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Jerran was a 4-sport student-athlete at Booker T Washington High School (Football, Wrestling, Tennis, Track & Field). He was also 2-sport a collegiate student-athlete (Football, Track & Field) and received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Alderson Broaddus University in 2016. Downing earned his Master's Degree in Athletic Leadership w/a Sport Psychology focus from Rider University in 2022. He lives in Grand Forks, ND with his wife Olivia.
