GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The final dual home weekend for North Dakota men's and women's tennis will come in the form of a conference contest against Omaha split between both Friday and Saturday inside Choice Health & Fitness as each squad looks to extend their respective win streaks.
First, the Fighting Hawk men will take on the Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with hopes of moving to six straight wins. The match will also mark the final home contest of the season for the men and will feature Senior Day festivities for
Christos Alex following competition. Then the women take the court for their turn against Omaha on Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. scheduled start time.
Last Time Out
North Dakota women's tennis hit the road south to face South Dakota in a weather-adjusted neutral site match in Sioux Falls. The Fighting Hawks cruised out to an early 1-0 lead after clinching the first two doubles matches, but singles play was much more back-and-forth. It all came down to the bottom court where freshman
Emma Roberts dominated in the third set to secure the 4-3 team win for UND.
On the men's side of competition, the latest match against Drake at home came down to the wire in marathon-like form behind a rowdy home crowd. North Dakota swept doubles play to go up 1-0 after a series of hard-fought matches and moved ahead 3-0 after taking the first two singles matches. But the Bulldogs came storming back and tied things up at 3-3 before a three-set all-out battle from
Kotaro Matsumura clinched the 4-3 win for UND.
