BOZEMAN, Mont. -- The University of North Dakota women's golf team wrapped up play at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, hosted by Montana State, on Tuesday from Riverside Country Club in Bozeman, Mont.
The Fighting Hawks finished 11th as a team with a team score of 932 (+68), shaving strokes off their score each day. The host-Bobcats captured the team title with an 848 (-16) while MSU's Eva Heinz won the individual crown with a 207 (-9).
Sophie Cook led the way for NoDak and just missed a top-20 finish, placing tied for 25th with a 223 (+7) in her first 54-hole event of her collegiate career. The Hawley, Minn., native was consistent throughout the two-day event, firing a 75 in the opening round before closing the tournament with back-to-back 74's to secure her spot in the top-25.
Emersyn Walker was the second Fighting Hawk on the leaderboard, firing a 234 (+18) to tie for 50th while
Mallory Uselman sat just one stroke behind her teammate to place tied for 52nd with a 235 (+19).
Gigi Lund saved her best golf for the final 18 holes, carding a 77 to close out with a 247 (+31) in 64th and
Kate McComb rounded out the scoring for UND with a 249 (+33) to place 65th.
Junior Lindsay Astrup competed in the event as an individual and posted the best 18-hole score of her career in the middle round with a 75 to finish in 59th with a 240 (+24).
North Dakota will continue heading west to close out September at the Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Wash. beginning on Sept. 29.
