UND women and Keeler claim Summit League titles, men finish as runners-up

OMAHA, Neb. – University of North Dakota cross country put on a clinic Saturday morning at the Summit League Championships, as nine of its 10 scoring athletes earned All-Summit honors. The UND women clinched its first Summit League title in school history, while Jadyn Keeler claimed the women's individual crown.

The North Dakota women won the 6K team title with 34 points to take the top spot, as South Dakota State was second with 53 points and North Dakota State took third with 71 points. The win marked the first Summit League title for not only the cross country team, but also the first Summit League crown for any program at UND since joining the league.

UND's women dominated the meet, as the individual title was taken in a show-stopping and record-breaking performance by Keeler. The senior clocked a new meet record 6k time of 19:21.1 enroute to her crown and First Team All-Summit accolades. Shewaye Johnson ran a 20:25.5 for fourth place overall, while Marie-Louise Jorgensen ran a 20:45.4 for fifth place.

Bringing in Second Team honors was Katherine Rogers, who took ninth place with her clocking of 21:01.3 and Elle Sondag rounded out the scoring in 15th place with a time of 21:11.5. The sixth and seventh spots were claimed in close fashion as Frida Giersdorff and Gabrielle Wahl went back-to-back in 16th and 17th place with times of 21:11.9 and 21:13.2, respectively.

Action started with the men's 8k, where the squad secured a runner-up finish with 46 points. Finishing behind only South Dakota State (38 points), the Fighting Hawks were led by Louis-Lys Fanucchi, who broke from the pack to clock a 23:58.8 for a third-place finish and First Team honors. Following close behind was Matej Hrebacka, running a 24:01.2 for seventh place and First Team honors.

Joining in on the scoring and all earning Second Team honors were Aleksa Milanovic (24:13.0, 10th), Ethan Adams (24:16.3, 12th) and Henrik Lindstrot (24:30.0, 14th) while the team's sixth and seventh spots went to Ian Busche (24.32.3, 16th) and Niko Angell (24:44.9, 25th).

The men finished second overall in the conference meet, collecting 46 points. SDSU won its 10th-straight team title with 38 points, while NDSU rounded out the top three with 76 points.

Before the meet, Ethan Kimmel was announced as the 2025 Summit XC Men's Scholar of the Championship and after competition, Keeler collected Championship M.V.P. honors while Jorgensen was named Newcomer of the Championship. A total of nine of UND's 10 scoring athletes earned All-Summit honors, with five Hawks named First Team and four named Second Team.

· UND men scored 46 points as runners finished 3-7-10-12-14-(16)-(25).
· UND women scored 34 points as runners finished 1-4-5-9-15-(16)-(17).
· Keeler becomes the second women's cross country individual Summit League Champion in program history, joining Yonca Kutluk in 2023.
· Keeler's time of 19:21.1 broke a meet record.
· For the first time in the history of UND Athletics, the Fighting Hawks have claimed a Summit League team title.
· Nine total runners earned All-Summit honors, which marks the most recognition in program history.

North Dakota cross country will now turn its sights to the NCAA Midwest Regional, happening in Stillwater, Okla. on Friday, November 14.
